Dreams of Art Spaces Collected

An artistic-research-project by Dorothee Albrecht and Moira Zoitl*, together with Andreas Schmid, Li Xiaoshan, Teng Yuning and LaoZhu hosted by the Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (IGBK), 2007

‘Dreams of Art Spaces Collected’ is a project that investigates visions and developments in exhibiting and mediating contemporary fine arts originating in Europe and China. The aim is to gather various perspectives of artists living and working in these regions. The primary focus is not on museums, but rather on project spaces, initiatives run by artists and art associations. The research is based on extensive interviews with approximately 30 artists, as well as with art curators and theorists.
The exhibition in the Berliner Künstlerbund contained video, photographic and textual presentations of the artists‘ standpoints, evaluations and ideas. In a workshop, project members discussed diverse models and developed a catalogue of ideas. The research is to be continued, a DVD and internet documentation is being planned.
